History and Culture
Maui Film and Research takes our heritage seriously. We have devoted a ton of time and effort to bringing historical and archived information out into the public view. Here are some of what we have done so far:
Holo Holo with Paco
Take a delightful trip around the island with Paco.
Apology Bill 1993
In 1993, there was a movement for what was called the Apology Bill to be given to the sovereign nation of Hawaii. It was signed by President Bill Clinton in November, 1993. This is an ABC News clip about this bill and what it means to native Hawaiians.
Pekelo and the Big Island Boys
We had the opportunity to film Pekelo and the Big Island Boys as they performed. We hope you enjoy watching and listening to this piece as much as we enjoyed making it!
Taro First
"Taro First" was an educational presentation done to highlight the use of the taro plant in both daily lives, and in the whole culture of the islands.Maui Students Letters & Thoughts After Viewing "TARO FIRST"
